The popular North Devon village resort holds the accolade of number 1 beach in the UK in the TripAdvisor awards as well as an England for Excellence award as a family resort. The all-terrain Tramper scooter available for hire from the Woolacombe Tourist Information Centre now means that you enjoy exploring the coast and accessing the beach whatever your mobility. Three routes are currently on offer:
A coastal route follows the popular South West Coast Path through the sand dunes of Woolacombe Warren providing sweeping views of the coastline, headlands and across to Lundy Island - with the option of a refreshment stop at The Porthole cafe. A second short route provides access on to the beach so that families and friends can enjoy the sand and surf together. (NB The Tramper is designed for accessing the firm sand on the beach but not for travelling significant distances along the beach or to go in the water).
New for 2022! For the more adventurous, a new circular route north of Woolacombe, following the side of a valley that offers great views back across the ocean and passing through a woodland before returning to the coast. The hire facility has been made possible through partnership with National Trust North Devon and Woolacombe Tourist Information Centre. Many thanks for their support and commitment to improving accessibility in and around Woolacombe. Enjoy this fantastic coastal site!
